There is no doubt that COVID-19 and the response to it has produced a lot of destruction, but it has also led to the creation of new ways of doing things. One such example is people meeting via video-conference calls instead of in person. Although meeting in person has many advantages, the convenience of meeting via a video-conference call is unparalleled.
Last year, I had started getting together with a group of Argentinean entrepreneurs living in Auckland that were meeting about once a month. Once the lockdown started, three of us, Mariana, Nico, and I, started meeting every week and started sharing some deep conversations. These conversations led to some magical moments of connecting with each other and ourselves, and eventually to the creation and publication of a podcast, Beautiful Ghosts.
Why another podcast? What do we want to achieve? The reason we decided to publish our conversations is that we feel we live in an era of shallow conversations and shallow connections. It seems that life is being lived through social media, with a tendency towards appearances and giving too much importance to what other people think. In this podcast, we engage in deep conversations not only to provide you with value in the content of our conversations, but also as an example of how beneficial the process is. The process of having conversations about what we think, believe, and feel in order to connect with each other and grow.
In fact, in the first episode Mariana asks, how do you think the process of personal growth happens? Because this is a topic that is always top of my mind and I recently wrote a series of posts, I answered: reflection. Personal growth happens through reflection. Having conversations and connecting with other people is a way of sharing those reflections and as an inspiration for new reflections. It’s a virtuous cycle. That is why we enjoy doing this podcast so much. We are connecting, we are growing, and we are having fun.
Are you connecting with other people and sharing what you believe, how you think, and how you feel? If you are looking for growth and fulfillment, let me suggest connecting and engaging in deep conversations. Do you need proof? Here’s Episode 1 of Beautiful Ghosts (you can also find it on Spotify).
Make an impact,
Pablo
