My reccomended books
Why We Sleep: unlocking the power of sleep and dreams, Matthew Walker *
This book changed my behaviour in terms of staying up late at night working. It’s not worth it. Sleep well, enjoy the next day. Live healthier.
12 Rules for Life: an antidote to chaos, Jordan B. Peterson
Not an easy read, but this book contains some very interesting insights into human nature and some good action points.
Fallen Leaves: last words on life, love, war, and love. Will Durant
A beautifully written reflection on life by a wise man who spent his life studying humanity. Some parts are outdated, but they don’t detract from the overall quality.
A Primate’s Memoir: A Neuroscientist’s Unconventional Life Among The Baboons. Robert M. Sapolsky
Listening to the audiobook from an urban area in a quiet city, it is amazing to see the kind of life that other people choose to live. The description of the dominance relationships among baboons is enlightening.
Bullshit jobs : a theory. David Graeber
An interesting description of jobs that are highly paid but provide little value to society and little meaning to those that work in them.
The Longevity Diet: discover the new science to slow aging, fight disease, and manage your weight. Valter Longo
Disclaimer: I do not follow this diet. I thought the idea of restricting your diet for 5 days was worth considering. I created my own version using the ketogenic diet.
My selection of books
I have always enjoyed reading books but in the last decade or so with work and raising a young family I was finding very little time for it. Until I discovered audiobooks. Nowadays I can listen to a book per week. In this section I’ll be recommending books that left me with something valuable. If I mark them with two ** means that they are among my favorites. One * means highly recommended.
